What is one idea from the readings or videos that you disagree with, and why?

“one of the most telling indicators of the quality of educational outcomes is the work students submit for assessment” (Gibbs, 2010, p. 7).

I think this idea is too general and I think the quality of educational outcomes is not only from the students submission. Some students may not can hand on a good assessment but they can get knowledge very well or learn skills from class.

What concept did you find difficult to understand? How did you approach learning the concept?

The measuring learning part is a little bit difficult for me to understand. It makes me feel like I am learning Math. I tried to calm down and read carefully and specific for two times and I know this is important for we measure scores.

Share a story about how you overcame a learning challenge. Why was it a challenge? What strategies did you use? Use the language you learned in this unit.

I had took one course before which is Art History. I think this is a tough class because it is a history class also its about art. Actually I know only a little bit about art, this course wants us to remember the artist name and can explain why she/he did that. First test I failed because what I thought is not the professor wanted. Actually this also did not have specific and correct answer, you need to think by yourself and maybe not correct. Fortunately, I passed this course. My strategy is to search these artists stories online and see how professional people critique on that and I can get some ideas. Then I will read the documents professor gave and learn, also think as I am a Artist.

Share a story about your best learning experience (could be a formal course or something more personal). Why did you enjoy it?

I would like to say its Spanish course, the professor is amazing and I can learn with fun. The professor made lots of fun games let us communicate with classmates. When during these cool games I also can learn lots of words! This saved me lots of time to review.

How would the learning be designed differently by a behaviorist, a cognitivist, and a constructivist? Scenario: A high school social study teacher is planning a class on climate change.

For Behaviorist: Climate change needs to be analysed only through observable behaviour, not so much through psychology. That is to say, argument trumps everything, and too much inner thought is not that important.

For Cognitivist: With regard to climate change, we should feel and intuit the changes in nature, and we should understand them through our thinking, rather than relying on trial and error to reach our conclusions.

For Constructivist: With regard to climate change, we need to pay attention to both internal and external factors. Climate changes only when we interact with the environment around us.

Describe an example from your life of when you were taught using each method described in this article: behaviorism, cognitivism, and constructivism.
Based on your reading, would you consider your current instruction style more behavioralist, cognitivist, or constructivist? Elaborate with your specific mindset and examples.

My father always taught me lots of things, I think he used the cognitivism to taught me. My father bring me to a dinner with his friends. He wants me to listen their speaking and think about what are they talking about or whose decision is not good. Then after the dinner, he will talk with me about that and let me to say my ideas. He did not tell me ideas or principles straightly. He wants me to feel and think by myself.

I think my current instruction style is more cognitivist, when I read an article or watched movie, I will let myself to feel and understand in my mind. Even sometimes the articles will directly told me some ideas but I still need time to think by myself.
